E-Marketing Contest Finalist

10 Nov 2011

Our local economic development non-profit organization in our town recently sponsored an Online Marketing Contest.  Contestants were to submit an application describing their business's concept and an online marketing campaign plan to boost that business.  The committee was to select five finalists to present before a panel of judges, and the judges are to choose the top two business to be the recipient of the prize ($5000 cash plus services).

I submitted the Find My Fabric business for my application.  Find My Fabric is an advanced fabric search engine with many useful features that help quilters locate the fabric they want to purchase online. To my delight, I was selected to be one of the finalists!  Last Friday I presented my case before the judges.  I had 10 minutes to tell the judges about Find My Fabric, how it started, how far we've come, along with how I plan to use the prize money to market the business if I were selected as a finalist.  The most difficult part of this presentation for me was to convince the judges of the breadth and depth of the quilting world, particularly the online quilting world.  I spent some time talking about how the trend is such that more and more quilters go online to find fabric.  I presented my online marketing plan which consisted of carefully placed articles and advertisements on well-read quilting blogs, YouTube advertising, Facebook advertising, and Google banner advertising.

I'm grateful that the local community sponsors such contests. I think they help boost the economy by encouraging businesses to think creatively and to stretch a bit.  I'm a firm believer in hard work, creativity, and careful planning.

I'll let you know if Find My Fabric was selected to be a prize winner.  Meanwhile, let's go f

Cotton Fabrics

23 May 2011

Nothing beats a quality cotton fabric, cut and pieced to perfection in your quilt. With so many wonderful cotton fabric designs designed for manufacturers such as Riley Blake Designs, Moda, Kona Bay Fabrics, and many others, it's no wonder a search engine to organize and categorize them all is so vital!

Cotton fabric prices are on the rise, due to increased worldwide demand on the cotton commodity.  China imports more cotton than it can produce. The United States exports cotton.  Egypt, known for its cotton production just as Idaho is known for its potatoes, has some political unrest as of late that affects its cotton exports.  There's a shortage of cotton around the world.

How important it is that you use an up-to-date fabric search engine, such as this one, to find the cotton fabric that you're looking for at an affordable price!

Over the past week others have said some very nice things about FindMyFabric.com.  I wanted to share this one with you.

to that site I have found 3 of them. It is a wonderful site even if you are
not looking specifically for any one design. I recommend it to everyone.
